What Is Promptchan AI?
Promptchan AI is an adults-only AI creation and companion platform combining character chat with image and video generation.
Its main tools include:
- AI companion chat
- Custom character creation
- Text-to-image generation
- Anime and photorealistic styles
- Community character discovery
- Image and video cloning
- Pose controls
- AI video generation
- Voice messages
- Voice calls
- Private generation
- Mobile and desktop access
Promptchan originally became known mainly as an AI image generator. Its current platform is broader, connecting generated characters with customizable personalities, companion chat, video, and voice.
The public community gallery contains more than 20 million images and videos, according to Promptchan. Users can explore public creations and clone an existing result as a starting point for a new variation.
Is Promptchan AI Free?
Yes. Promptchan provides a free plan without requiring a payment card.
Free accounts receive a daily Gem allowance and can use those Gems to test image generation and AI chat. They can also browse Promptchan’s community gallery and clone public creations.
The free plan currently includes:
- Daily free Gems
- AI image creation
- AI companion chat
- Community-gallery access
- One-click cloning of public creations
- Anime styles
- Photorealistic styles
- Web, iOS, and Android access
Promptchan does not publish a fixed number of daily Gems on its public pricing page. The allowance may therefore change, and the amount displayed inside your account should be treated as the current limit.
Free access is best used to evaluate three things: the image style, the chat experience, and how quickly your preferred activities consume Gems.
What Are Promptchan Gems?
Gems are Promptchan’s internal usage credits. Generative actions can deduct Gems from the user’s balance.
Each paid plan includes a monthly Gem allowance:
- Plus: 100 Gems
- Premium: 400 Gems
- Pro: 800 Gems
Free members receive a smaller daily allowance rather than the published monthly allocations attached to paid plans.
Promptchan currently specifies two voice costs:
| Action | Current Cost |
|---|---|
| Voice message | 1 Gem |
| Voice call | 2 Gems |
The pricing page does not provide one permanent public Gem price for every image, video, model or quality setting. Generation costs can depend on the chosen tool and settings, so check the confirmation screen before creating.
Paid subscribers also receive a 50% discount when buying additional Gems.
Does Promptchan Pro Really Include Unlimited Generations?
Promptchan Pro advertises “Unlimited Casual Generations” alongside 800 monthly Gems.
The important word is “casual.” This should not be interpreted as unlimited access to every premium feature. Advanced image qualities, voice functions, video tools, or other higher-cost actions may still use the monthly Gem balance.
A sensible interpretation is:
- Casual generations receive a broader unlimited allowance.
- Premium or computationally expensive actions can still consume Gems.
- Pro includes 800 Gems for tools outside the unlimited casual category.
Promptchan’s interface should show the applicable cost before a generation begins. Check that amount rather than assuming the word “unlimited” applies to 4K images, extended videos, and every voice feature.
Six Promptchan Plan Features Explained
1. AI Companion Chat
Free users can begin chatting with characters from the Discover feed. Plus increases chat usage to 2×, Premium to 5×, and Pro advertises unlimited chat.
Promptchan describes its chat as personality-based and capable of memory and roleplay. However, it should still be treated as a fictional AI simulation rather than communication with a real person.
Users primarily interested in chat should test the free allowance before paying for Pro. A lower plan may be sufficient if images and video are not important.
2. HD and 4K AI Images
Plus and Premium include HD image access, while Pro advertises 4K AI images.
Higher resolution matters when you want to retain detail, crop an image, or use the result on a larger display. It does not guarantee that every generation will have perfect hands, facial consistency, or prompt accuracy.
Image quality also depends on the selected model, style, prompt, and pose. Resolution cannot correct a poorly structured concept by itself.
3. Styles and Pose Controls
Plus includes basic styles and poses. Premium expands the available selection, while Pro unlocks all listed styles, all poses, and custom poses.
Promptchan currently supports realistic, hyperrealistic, anime, cinematic, illustration, and other visual approaches. The exact model names visible in the public gallery include options such as Realism XL 2, Anime XL 2, Hyperreal XL+, and Illustration XL+.
The wider pose library makes Pro more relevant to users who want precise compositions rather than random outputs.
4. Full-Length AI Video and Extend
Promptchan’s official pricing information places full-length video generation and Extend in the Pro plan.
Extend allows a user to continue or lengthen supported AI video output instead of creating a completely separate clip. This can help build a longer sequence from a satisfactory starting result.
Video is computationally expensive and may use Gems differently from casual image generation. Check the displayed cost and available controls before confirming a video.
5. Custom AI Characters
Custom character creation is listed as a Pro feature.
Instead of relying only on community profiles, Pro members can design a companion around selected appearance, personality, interests, and hobbies. The finished character can then be used within Promptchan’s chat and creative ecosystem.
This makes Pro the relevant tier for users who want one recurring companion rather than constantly switching among community characters.
6. Voice Messages and Calls
Promptchan supports voice interaction within its companion features.
A generated voice message currently costs 1 Gem, while a voice call costs 2 Gems. Pro explicitly includes voice-call access, although the call itself still has a published Gem cost.
Voice can make conversations feel more immediate, but it remains synthetic audio produced by an AI system.
Compare Promptchan Free and Pro: Test chat and image creation for free, then decide whether video, 4K images and voice calls justify Pro.
Which Promptchan Plan Is Best?
The right plan depends more on the tools you use than on the number of features shown in the plan table.
Free Is Best for First-Time Users
Choose Free if you want to:
- Test the image generator
- Try several community characters
- Inspect anime and realistic styles
- Learn how Gems work
- Avoid entering payment details
The daily allowance is limited, but it is enough to judge whether Promptchan’s workflow suits you.
Plus Is Best for Occasional Image Creation
Choose Plus if you want:
- 100 monthly Gems
- HD image generation
- Basic pose controls
- Basic visual styles
- More chat capacity than Free
Plus is the cheapest paid option, but it does not include Promptchan’s complete video and custom-character package.
Premium Is Best for Regular Image Users
Choose Premium if you want:
- 400 monthly Gems
- More styles
- More poses
- HD images
- 5× chat usage
Premium offers four times the Gems of Plus for an additional $9 per month. That makes it a stronger value for regular image creation, provided you do not need Pro-only video or custom characters.
Pro Is Best for the Full Platform
Choose Pro if you want:
- 800 monthly Gems
- Unlimited casual generations
- Unlimited chat
- Full-length AI video
- Video Extend
- Video voice features
- Custom characters
- 4K images
- Every available style
- All poses and custom poses
- Voice calls
- Early access to selected features
At $33.99 per month, Pro costs $10 more than Premium. The upgrade makes the most sense when video, voice, custom characters, or advanced pose control are essential.
Which Plan Provides the Best Value per Gem?
The basic subscription comparison is straightforward:
| Plan | Price | Gems | Approximate Subscription Cost per Included Gem |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plus | $14.99 | 100 | $0.150 |
| Premium | $23.99 | 400 | $0.060 |
| Pro | $33.99 | 800 | $0.042 |
This calculation divides the subscription price by the included monthly Gems. It does not assign a dollar value to chat limits, unlimited casual generations, video access, image quality, or other plan benefits.
Based only on included Gems, Pro provides the lowest effective cost per Gem. Premium represents the largest middle-tier improvement because it includes four times as many Gems as Plus without costing four times as much.
Plus remains useful for lighter users who would not consume a larger monthly balance.
How Can You Make Promptchan Gems Last Longer?
The easiest way to conserve Gems is to plan an image before selecting expensive settings.
A practical workflow is:
- Test the concept at a lower quality.
- Keep the character description consistent.
- Change one prompt element at a time.
- Use negative prompts to remove recurring errors.
- Save successful prompts.
- Clone a suitable public creation instead of starting from zero.
- Generate HD or 4K versions only after the composition works.
- Create video from the strongest final image.
- Check the Gem cost before confirming every action.
Repeatedly requesting maximum-quality outputs while still changing the basic concept can waste a monthly balance quickly.
Community cloning is especially useful for beginners. It provides a working prompt and model combination that can be adjusted rather than forcing the user to guess every setting.
Does Promptchan Have Monthly or Annual Billing?
Promptchan’s public pricing page currently presents standard monthly prices for Plus, Premium, and Pro. Its refund policy also discusses annual subscriptions, indicating that annual billing may be offered through certain checkout flows or promotions.
Do not assume an advertised monthly equivalent means you will be billed monthly. If an annual offer appears, check:
- The total charged today
- When the plan renews
- Whether Gems arrive monthly or all at once
- The standard renewal price
- Whether the payment method supports refunds
Promptchan says Gems on an annual plan are credited monthly across the year. Remaining future monthly credits stop once an eligible annual refund is issued.
Can You Cancel Promptchan at Any Time?
Yes. Promptchan says recurring subscriptions can be cancelled through account settings.
Cancellation stops future renewals but does not normally end access immediately. The subscription remains active until the conclusion of the paid billing period.
This means cancellation and refund are not the same action:
- Cancellation prevents the next recurring charge.
- A refund asks Promptchan to return an eligible existing payment.
Promptchan’s terms say cryptocurrency and G2A purchases operate as fixed-period subscriptions rather than recurring payments. Check the checkout label to see whether your selected payment method renews automatically.
Does Promptchan Offer Refunds?
Promptchan’s refund policy was updated on August 12, 2026. It currently provides a potential 30-day refund window for subscription purchases.
However, eligibility depends on usage. Refunds are intended for subscribers who have not made significant use of Promptchan’s AI services during those 30 days.
The process requires users to:
- Cancel the subscription.
- Contact Promptchan support.
- Provide subscription details.
- Explain the refund request.
- Wait for an individual review.
Promptchan says it aims to review requests within seven business days. Approved refunds are generally returned to the original payment method.
Refunds can be refused when:
- Significant AI services have already been used.
- The request arrives after 30 days.
- The account violated Promptchan’s terms.
- The purchase was paid in cryptocurrency.
Because “significant use” is not defined as a universal number of generations, anyone considering a refund should stop using paid tools and contact support promptly.
Is Promptchan Private?
Promptchan offers a private-generation option, allowing users to keep creations out of the public discovery system.
However, private generation does not mean that Promptchan processes no data. Its privacy policy says it can collect:
- Account information
- Transaction information
- Technical and performance data
- IP addresses
- Browser details
- Prompts and searches entered in public mode
Prompt and Search Data is specifically described in relation to the platform’s public-mode feature. Users should still avoid including passwords, financial information, addresses, or personally identifiable private information in prompts and chats.
Promptchan’s terms also prohibit impersonating celebrities, public figures, or private individuals without consent. Only upload or depict adults whose permission you have.

Promptchan Free is the right starting point for almost everyone because it provides daily Gems, images, chat, and community cloning without requiring a card.
Plus works for occasional HD image generation, but its 100-Gem allowance is relatively small. Premium offers better value for regular image users by increasing the balance to 400 Gems and expanding the style and pose libraries.
Pro is the only sensible choice for users who specifically want Promptchan’s complete companion and media package. Its $33.99 monthly plan adds 800 Gems, unlimited chat, unlimited casual generations, 4K images, full video tools, custom characters, advanced poses, and voice calls.
